whoops!

Ok, so I completely forgot about blogging. The last time I blogged was over 2 years ago! Since then, Jesse and I moved in together, I gave my bird away to a new home, I finished my MFT hours, we adopted a cat, and we got engaged! Lots of new, exciting changes! As of yet, there is no wedding date since we have only been engaged for a month. I hope to keep this blog more up to date. I am also going to start another blog about Do It Yourself wedding ideas to inspire my creativity more, as well as encourage others to give great ideas as well.

Here's hoping I keep up with the blogging!

I moved!!!!! ....again

Well.... I did it again! This time moving was absolutely necessary. My last apartment was infested with termites, and my roommate Anne was moving to Shell Beach. I found a great studio apartment with full kitchen, full bath, separate sleeping and living areas, a back patio and awesome neighbors...check out the pics! (click on picture below to see the album)

Scotland

Well we are back from our week long excursion in the UK. I have to say that I failed when it came to blogging while we were there, so I thought that I would combine the whole trip in one post.

Day One

We arrive at the Edinburgh airport after about 13 hours of traveling. We were ready for sleep, but didn't want to waste the daylight and attempts to get used to the time change. We checked into the Ramsey Bed and Breakfast before we went in search of some pub food and a pint of Cask Ale. Next we headed for the Edinburgh Castle. We had a great time checking out the sites and listening to the history on the audio guides, however, it became increasingly difficult to stay awake the longer they were there.

Day Two

After a great night's sleep we headed to the Holyrood Palace where we got yet another great audio tour. It was a great tour, but i got in trouble taking a picture of the thrones. In my defense, I didn't see any signs.

Next we checked out the ruins on Calton Hill, a short walk from the city centre. After another yummy lunch and cold beer, we spent the next couple hours at the Scotland National Gallery. Later that night we drove (or Jesse drove while I attempted to navigate) on the left side of the road on our way to the Hoscote House near a town called Hawick at the Borders.

Day Three

Our first day at the house! This place has nine bedrooms in addition to a study, drawing room, conservatory, solarium, dining room, dining kitchen, etc. It made me want to play clue. We checked out the town of Hawick and took a hike around the house.
Day Four

While the others went into Edinburgh to tour the city, Jesse and I decided to go into Jedburgh to check out the Abbey. We are really glad we did because it was a beautiful day and the Abbey was supposed to be the most impressive one in Scotland. I have no comparison, but I would have to agree!
Day Five

Today the group went to partake in shooting clay pigeons with a 12 gauge shotgun. I chose to watch and take pictures, but Jesse did a great job taking third place out of about 10 people! It came with a price though - a bruise on his arm, and a bump on his cheek - ouch.
Day Six

The day of the wedding! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures. I am going to have to get some from Jesse. My camera was in the rental car and the storm outside was huge! I was not about to venture outside when the trees were blown practically horizontal. The ceremony was beautiful, and Andrea looked gorgeous! This day was spent talking to the happy couple and eating wonderful food.

Day Seven

Last day. :( We took the trek back to our B&B in Edinburgh and spent the day shopping, eating more great food, and taking advantage of the cask ales we wouldn't find in the states. We also had a deep fried mars bar! Sadly, we needed to get to sleep early so that we could get up at 4am and make our flight at 630. About 24 hours later, we were home in San Luis Obispo. I can't wait to take another trip!

New Years in Tahoe

Jesse, Andrea, Ben, and I just got back from a great trip to Tahoe! It snowed from the moment we got there on Friday night until about noon on Sunday. The cabin was great and very cozy. When we were not at Alpine meadows, we were in the cabin, or in the hot tub! I have to say that those lessons last year really paid off, because something stuck when I attempted to snowboard this weekend. I made my first goal by the end of the first day which was to go all the way down the bunny slope (not breaking the whole time) without stopping or falling. The next day I tried a blue slope.......but I was using my breaks almost the whole time......better luck next time! Well the bottom line is that I left not sucking as bad as last year, and that's all I could hope for! This was a great New Years, and I am looking forward to planning the next trip!

If you want to see what the cabin looks like, here is a link that was sent to us before we got there. http://cruznow.com/content/alpineslideshow.html Cozy, huh?

Bringin' Sexy Back

I had been sick this week, and rather bored. So, it is amazing the kinds of things that you notice when you are under the weather. I came to the realization that my pet bird, Cerveza, has rhythm, and really likes Justin Timberlake. Observe.

Painting

I have been dabbling in some painting again. For years I have been doing water color painting just for fun. Lately, I have been more interested in creating art that I can display in my apartment. Here is one example of a painting that I put in the bathroom to go with the bamboo theme. This was painted using acrylics on a canvas.

This other painting is also acrylics and on canvas, however it is obviously a work in progress. I will post the finished project when it is done. It is supposed to be a rose...hmmm...we will see!
